Meet the Team
Erica Simpson, MSW, LCSW is the CEO/Owner of Associates In Counseling and is a practicing Licensed Clinical Social Worker/Psychotherapist. Erica holds a Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Social Work from Western Kentucky University. She graduated with a 4.0 and is a alumni member of the Honors college at WKU, Phi Alpha. Erica is also a certified trauma focused cognitive behavioral therapist as well as a trained forensic interviewer with specialized training and advanced education hours in working with sexual abuse victims. Erica is also certified to teach Active Parenting and is currently training to become certified in cutting edge therapy techniques such as biofeedback and EMDR.
She is a third generation mental health professional with over 20 years of experience in assessing and treating children, adolescents, and adults with a wide range of clinical issues. The majority of those years she spent serving clients in Grayson, Breckinridge, Meade, Hardin, Warren and Edmonson Counties.
Erica specializes in working with children and adolescents diagnosed with anxiety, sensory processing issues, substance abuse, self esteem issues, depression, mood disorders, ADHD, ODD, and trauma & abuse issues.
In her work with children and adolescents, she believes that it is important to involve family members, community partners, and caregivers to help identify problems and successfully treat them.
Erica’s experience in different settings includes inpatient adult psychiatric, residential treatment, school family resource center, community mental health, CHFS, within the Court system, with the MRDD and homeless population and in private practice. Erica has a heart for advocating for children in school with IEP and 504 plans and ensuring their implementation and adherence in schools.
Erica also provides ongoing community education for the community, including grief counseling groups and healthy and balanced living classes.
She built the Tri County CASA program from the ground up, leading the program for almost five years with tremendous success, while actively helping children achieve permanency.
Her professional affiliations include being a member of NASW, Phi Alpha Alumni, WKU/EKU/Campbellsville Field Placement Provider, Coalition of Christian Counselors, and TF-CBT Coalition.
Her personal affiliations including being an officer of PTO at two schools and SBDM. She is an active member of the Edmonson, Breckinridge and Grayson County Chamber of Commerce and an active participant in multiple programs to benefit the community such as Big Brothers/Big Sisters, CASA, Santas Secret Hands and the Grayson County Alliance.
Erica lives with her husband, Barrett, and their three children in Edmonson County.
Erica is joined by therapists Philip Pursley and Ashley Tilford, along with case managers Kaitlyn Bunt, Chris Meredith, Shawn White and Suzan Nunn. Holding us all together is our Office Manager, Alicia Carter.
